Ten members of the UW-Stevens Point cross country and track & field teams were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team, the organization announced Tuesday (June 18). The men's honorees included
Braedon Gilles (Middleton, Wis./Middleton),
Derek Penzkover (Rice Lake, Wis./Rice Lake),
Aidan Schleutermann (Woodstock, Ill./Woodstock),
Joshua Jumbeck (Galesville, Wis./Galesville-Ettrick-Trempealeau) and
Jacob Ulrich (Lake Mills, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran). The women's honorees included
Rachel Krouse (Milwaukee, Wis./Wauwatosa West),
Paige Allemann (Waumandee, Wis./Cochrane-Fountain City),
Anetha Vogele (Necedah, Wis./Necedah),
Mariah Moehn (Chilton, Wis./Chilton) and
Gabri Gaines (Madison, Wis./Memorial).

Gilles wrapped his senior season in dominant fashion after earning All-America honors in both indoor and outdoor track & field. In the indoor season, Gilles raced to a season-best time of 1:50.21 in the 800-meter run at the WIAC Championships (Feb. 23-24) which ranked him fourth in the North Region and third nationally. At NCAA Indoor Nationals, Gilles logged a sixth-place finish with a time of 1:52.72 to earn his first career All-America honor. During the outdoor season, he logged his nationally qualifying time in the 800-meter run at the Augustana Midwest Final Qualifier (May 15-16) with a personal-best time of 1:49.37, ranking him first in the North Region and ninth nationally. At NCAA Outdoor Nationals, Gilles placed sixth in the finals with a time of 1:49.86, effectively earning his second All-America honor on the season. Gilles also ran on the cross country team this season in three meets, including a personal-best finish at the WIAC Championships (Oct. 28) with a time of 26:42.5.

Penzkover posted his best year as a Pointer, earning All-America honors in both indoor and outdoor track & field. During the indoor season, Penzkover saw plenty of success in the distance medley relay (DMR) with an array of teammates. The unit logged their nationally qualifying mark at the Wartburg Qualifier (Mar. 1) with a time of 9:45.29, ranking them fifth in the North Region and 11
th nationally. At Indoor nationals, Penzkover and his fellow teammates logged an eighth-place finish in the DMR with a time of 9:55.64, earning his first career All-America honor. In the outdoor season, Penzkover found his stride in the 1500-meter run with a nationally qualifying time of 3:48.62 at the WIAC Championships (May 3-4), ranking him sixth in the North Region and 26
th nationally. At NCAA Outdoor Nationals, Penzkover finished 16
th in the 1500-meter run with a time of 3:55.75. His finish at nationals allowed him to slot on USTFCCCA Second-Team All-America. Penzkover also ran on the cross country team this season in three meets.

Schleutermann finishes his junior year as a pivotal piece of the men's cross country team. A now veteran runner on the unit, he competed in five meets qualifying for the NCAA North Region Cross Country Championships. Schleutermann logged a personal-best time of 25:28.3 at the NCAA North Region Championships (Nov. 11), finishing 50
th in the congested field. He also placed 50
th at the WIAC Championships (Oct. 28) with a time of 26:13.0. In track & field, Schleutermann logged his best season yet with personal-best marks in the Mile, 1500-meter, 3000-meter, 5000-meter and 10000-meter throughout the season.

Jumbeck caps off his fifth season as a Pointer with his second CSC Academic All-District honor. During the outdoor track & field season, he logged a first-place finish and mark of 4:09.45 in the 1500-meter run at the St. Norbert Invitational (Apr. 27), qualifying for the conference championships. At the WIAC Championships (May 3-4), he logged a season-best time of 3:58.40 in the 1500-meter, ranking him 41
st in the North Region. Jumbeck also competed in one meet for the cross country team.

Ulrich had a productive senior season for the Pointers, earning his first CSC Academic All-District honor. Ulrich competed in 12 meets between indoor and outdoor track & field. He had a career day at the Titan Challenge (Feb. 17), logging a personal-best throw in the shot put of 13.02 meters (42' 8.75"). He also registered a personal-best heave in the weight throw with a throw of 14.92 meters (48' 11.5"), ranking him 49
th in the North Region. Ulrich competed in the weight throw at Indoor WIAC Championships (Feb. 23-24) where he placed 26
th with a mark of 14.28 meters (46' 10.25").

Krouse finishes her third season with her first All-America honor as one of the Pointers' lead runners. During the cross country season, Krouse shook some early adversity after making a delayed season debut at the Blugold Invitational (Sept. 29) where she took 7
th with a time of 22:34.0. Finding her stride as the season progressed, Krouse logged a fifth-place finish at the WIAC Championships (Oct. 28) with a time of 22:16.6. At the NCAA North Region Championships (Nov. 11), she paced her way to an nationally qualifying time of 21:39.7 to place fifth. Krouse finished 55
th at NCAA Cross Country Nationals (Nov. 18) with a time of 22:05.8. During the indoor track & field season, Krouse saw immediate success in the 5000-meter run, breaking the previous school record in the 5000-meter at the Ripon Winter Open (Dec. 2) with a time of 17:03.25. This nationally qualifying time in the 5000-meter ranked her second in the North Region and 16
th in the nation. At NCAA Indoor Nationals, Krouse raced to a 10
th place finish with a personal-best mark of 17:00.22. This effort at Nationals granted Krouse USTFCCCA Second Team All-America honors.

Allemann concluded her sixth season as a Pointer, earning her second CSC Academic All-District honor. During the Indoor season, Allemann logged a personal-best time of 10:21.88 in the 3000-meter run at the Titan Challenge (Feb. 17). At the Indoor WIAC Championships, she placed 19
th in the 3000-meter run with a time of 10:37.45. She also logged a personal-best time of 5:08.45 in the mile run at the UWL Final Qualifier (Mar. 2) prior to the completion of the indoor season. In the outdoor season, Allemann saw success in the 3000-meter steeplechase and 1500-meter run, logging regionally ranked times in each event. At the UW-Platteville Invitational (Apr. 12-13), Allemann logged a time of 4:49.27 in the 1500-meter which ranked her 30
th in the North Region. At the Phil Esten Challenge (Apr. 19-20), she finished fourth in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a mark of 11:37.67, ranking her 23
rd in the North Region.

Vogele closes her junior year with first career CSC Academic All-District honor. During the indoor season, she earned two regionally ranked marks as one of the Pointers' top sprinters. At the Big Dawg Invite, Vogele raced to a season-best time of 26.93 in the 200-meter dash, ranking her tied for 48
th in the North Region. At the Titan Challenge, she finished second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.75 which ranked her 18
th in the North Region. In the outdoor season, Vogele logged a personal-best time of 58.60 in the 400-meter dash which ranked her 16
th in the North Region.

Moehn mustered a season full of career best in the throws events for the Pointers. During the outdoor season, she logged a personal-best throw of 38.82 meters (127' 4") in the discus throw at the St. Norbert Invitational (Apr. 27), ranking her 31
st in the North Region. At the WIAC Championships (May 3-4), Moehn logged another personal-best heave of 33.51 meters (109' 11") to place eighth in the javelin throw which ranked her 37
th in the North Region.

Gaines was a top contributor on the cross country team and track & field units in her senior season. She placed 85
th with a time of 23:57.1 at NCAA North Region Cross Country Championships (Nov. 11). During the outdoor season, Gaines made her impact in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a personal-best time of 11:45.83 to finish ninth at the Phil Esten Challenge (Apr. 19-20). This mark ranked her 28
th in the North Region.

The UWSP cross country women's team finished sixth at the WIAC Championships and 15
th at the NCAA North Regional. The men' team took seventh at the WIAC Championships and eighth at the NCAA North Regional.

In the indoor track & field season, both men and women's teams finished sixth at the WIAC Championships with five national qualifiers. During the outdoor track & field season, each unit finished seventh at the conference championships with six national qualifiers.Â
