STEVENS POINT, Wis.- UW-Stevens Point athletics and the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) have teamed up with the NCAA for the It's On US campaign, to help end sexual assault on college campuses.
The campaign, called It's On Us, focuses on encouraging bystander intervention and building a campus culture that makes sexual assault unacceptable. The program is designed to bring the campus community – not just potential victims and attackers, but their classmates, peers, professors and friends – into the conversation, giving them a shared sense of responsibility for improving attitudes toward sexual violence.
In 2014, the NCAA teamed with the White House for the It's On US initiative, when President Obama, Vice President Joe Biden and the Justice Department Office on Violence against Women distributed more than $6 million in grants to fund universities' efforts to develop campus sexual assault and prevention and response programs.
By taking the It's On Us pledge, student-athletes and fans alike, take a personal commitment to help keep women and men safe from sexual assault. It is a promise not to be a bystander to the problem, but to be a part of the solution.
UWSP fans can make a monetary donation at upcoming home events, which will be donated to the UW-Stevens Point Center for Prevention. Fans who donate will also receive an It's On Us wristband.
