Begun in 1995, the Directors' Cup measures the top overall athletics program among nearly 450 NCAA Division III institutions. The award, presented by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics, is based on points accumulated in NCAA tournament competition. UW-Stevens Point placed in the top 25 for 15 straight years (1996-97 through 2010-11). UW-Stevens Point was the highest-performing non-east coast school during its fifth place finishes in 2004-05 and 2003-04. UWSP has finished in the top 10 eight times the top 20 15 times and has never been ranked lower than No. 51.Â
