Pointers’ DMRs Take Second on Day One of WIAC Track Championships

MENOMONIE, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point track and field teams kick off the WIAC Championships (presented by Culver's) with the men in sixth and the women tied for fifth after day one action.
 
Results: Men | Women
 
The women's distance medley relay team of Brooke Wellhausen (Williams Bay, Wis./Big Foot), Shelby Klobucar (La Crosse, Wis./Logan), Kylee Sauers (Rockford, Minn./Rockford) and Paige Allemann (Waumandee, Wis./Cochrane-Fountain City) came in second with a time of 12:20.85.
 
Madeline Zirbel (De Pere, Wis./De Pere) took fourth in the high jump by clearing the bar at 1.58 meters (5' 2.25").
 
Guadalupe Corn (Keshena, Wis./Menominee Indian) placed seventh in the shot put with a distance of 12.88 meters (42' 3.25").
 
Mackenzie Johnson (Cumberland, Wis./Cumberland) podiumed in eighth place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.57.
 
The men's distance medley relay team of Logan Lutz (Greendale, Wis./Greendale), Brad Brewer (Slinger, Wis./Slinger), Braedon Gilles (Middleton, Wis./Middleton) and Josh Jumbeck also finished in second place with a time of 10:10.49.
 
Austin Rennhack (Columbus, Wis./Columbus) had a distance of 15.26 meters (50' 0.75") in the shot put, good for fourth place.
 
UWSP's distance runners Derek Penzkover (Rice Lake, Wis./Rice Lake) and Ryan Reed (Madison, Wis./West) took ninth place in the mile run and 5000-meter run with respective times of 4:20.88 and 15:07.86.
 
The Pointers compete in day two action beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday (Feb. 25).
