Princl Claims Conference Title, Pointers Wrap-up Conference Meet

LA CROSSE, Wis.—The UW-Stevens Point men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up the final day of the WIAC Championships (pres. by Culver's) on Saturday evening. Sophomore Melanie Princl (West Bend, Wis./West) claimed the Pointers' third conference title of the meet.
 
Results
 
Princl claimed the conference title in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.53. Lindsey Jossie (Pulaski, Wis./Pulaski) placed second in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:40.38. Madeline Zirbel (De Pere, Wis./De Pere) earned a seventh-place podium finish in the high jump with a mark of 1.58 meters. Abby Rudrud (Onalaska, Wis./Onalaska) placed eighth in the shot put with a mark of 12.81 meters.
 
Ben Kempe (Stevens Point, Wis./SPASH) reached the podium with a sixth-place finish in the 110- and 400-meter hurdles with times of 14.59 and 54.10, respectively. Jorden Ukpong (Kronenwetter, Wis./D.C. Everest) placed fourth in the shot put and sixth in the discus throw with marks of 16.27 meters and 50.65 meters, respectively. Jack Gjovik (Eagle River, Wis./Northland Pines) reached the podium with a sixth-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 14.16 meters. Adam Eiden (Stevens Point, Wis./Pacelli Catholic) earned a sixth-place finish in the 1500-meter run with a time of 3:55.70 to reach the podium for the Pointers.
 
The men and women's track and field teams are back in action on Thursday (May 7) for day one of the St. Francis Fighting Chance meet in Joliet, Ill.
