WAUKESHA, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point track and field team opened its outdoor season on Saturday at the Carroll Invite.  The UWSP women took second while the men were eighth.
 
Results
 
UWSP's relay team of Paige Allemann (Waumandee,Wis./Cochrane-Fountain City), Brilyn Brecka (Alma, Wis./Alma), Taylor Fuerstenberg (Sussex,Wis./Hamilton) and Gabri Gaines (Madison, Wis./Memorial) won the 4-400-meter relay with a time of 4:18.37.  Allemann also took first in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:23.35.
 
Larkin Hoepner (Eau Claire, Wis./North) took first in the hammer throw with a distance of 49.78 meters (163' 4").  She also won the discus throw with a distance of 41.46 meters (136' 0").
 
Brooke Wellhausen (Williams Bay, Wis./Big Foot) finish in first place in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:55.21, more than seven seconds ahead of the runner-up.
 
Mackenzie Ward was victorious in the long jump.  Her distance of 5.36 meters (17' 7") was 0.43 meters further than second place.
 
Briana Simonis (Rosholt, Wis./Rosholt) clocked a time of 16.18 to win the 100-meter hurdles.  Abby Nelson (Iron River, Wis./Northwestern) tied for first in the pole vault clearing a height of 3.45 meters (11' 3.75").
 
On the men's side, Dylan Delaney (Sauk Prairie, Wis./Sauk Prairie) placed second in the hammer throw with a distance of 50.23 meters (164' 9").
 
Blake Orr (Waupaca, Wis./Waupaca) also had a second-place finish in the discus throw with a distance of 43.53 meters (142' 10").
 
The Pointers travel to Whitewater on Friday (April) for the Rex Foster Invite.  Action begins at 2:00 p.m.
