In his first run of the season, Pedersen placed 57th among the 183 runner field in the five-mile run featuring predominantly Division I runners. Freshman Matt Stelmasek placed 88th for UWSP, which placed 22nd as a team.
Derks crossed the finish line in 111th place as the women's 5K featured 222 runners. Derks' time was 18:43. Freshman
Bailey Wolf (Oconto Falls, WI/Oconto Falls) was the next fastest runner for UWSP crossing at the 19:02 mark as UWSP placed 27th as a team.
The Pointers travel to Appleton next Saturday (Oct. 8) for the Lawrence Invitational.
