PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin Stevens Point men's and women's track and field team competed at the UW-Platteville Invitational Friday and Saturday at the UW-Platteville Field Complex. No team scores were recorded, but UWSP had multiple top five finishes during the meet.
How the Men Finished
Junior Logan Heil (Weston, WI/DC Everest) secured himself a spot in nationals in the hammer throw (57.01m) earning him one of two first place finishes for the Pointers.
The Pointers Junior Jerry Williams (Watertown, WI/Watertown) secured a first place finish in triple jump (14.75m) while Senior Jordan Richards (Stevens Point, WI/SPASH) secured himself a nationals spot in the long jump (7.28m) earning him a second place finish. Senior Alec Dix (WIld Rose, WI/Wild Rose) jumped his way to a lifetime PR in the long jump (7.07m) placing third and rounding out the jump crew freshman Mac James also recorded a lifetime PR (7.05m) placing fourth.
Other top finishes for the Pointers included Tylar Kohnke (North Fond du Lac, WI/Horace Mann) placing fourth in the javelin throw (51.11m), Darin Ward (Fond du Lac, WI/St. Mary's Springs) sixth in the 110 hurdles (15.22). Connor Schultz (Juneau, WI/Dodgeland) posted a PR in the open 800m (1:56.42) placing ninth.
On the Women's Side
Senior Shannon Burke (Sussex, WI/Hamilton) earned the top finish for the Pointers earning second place in the pole vault (3.74m). Freshman Isabella Weekly (Plainfield, WI/Tri County) placed third in the high jump (1.61m) with teammate senior Bailey Paske earned a PR (1.56m) placing sixth.
Rounding out their success in the field events senior Kadie Flynn (Appleton, WI/North) earned third in the discus throw (43.74m) and fourth in the shot put (12.84m).
Top finishes on the track included Jacking Butler placing fourth (1:05.84) and freshman Autumn Nelson (Superior, WI/Superior) placing sixth (1:06.75) in the 400m hurdles. Holly Winberg (Forest Lake, MN/Forest Lake) PR'd in the 5k (17:48.98) placing seventh, Leah Trempe (Combined Locks, WI/Kimberly) took home fifth (58.59) in the 400m run and rounding out top finishes Kathy Derks (Greenville, WI/Hortonville) placed fifth (2:16.44) in the 800m.
