NEW ORLEANS, La. – The UW-Stevens Point men's and women's track and field teams each were named as 2014 Division III All-Academic Track & Field teams by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) and seven individuals earned individual All-Academic honors.

Men's Individuals The UW-Stevens Point women's track and field team posted a cumulative GPA of 3.33, while the men came in at 3.25. In total, 158 women's teams and 93 men's teams earned the distinction by earning a cumulative team GPA of 3.10 or higher.
Ana Breit (Wisconsin Rapids, WI/Pacelli),
Kadie Flynn (Appleton, WI/North), Sam Haas,
Jasmine Haines (East Troy, WI/East Troy) and
Kristin Mathes (Kiel, WI/Kiel) each received USTFCCA All-Academic honors for their combined academic and athletic accomplishments. In order to qualify for the honor, a student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.30 and have competed in an NCAA Indoor or Outdoor Championship or have finished the regular season ranked in the top 35 nationally in an individual event or in the top 25 in a relay event.
Breit has a 3.89 GPA as a wildlife ecology major and earned All-American honors in the mile run at the 2014 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships by finishing eighth (4:57.84). Flynn, a biology major, has a 3.55 GPA and was also an All-American by taking seventh in the discus (45.28m) at the outdoor championships and also took 16th in the hammer throw (50.06m). Haas is majoring in psychology, has a 3.36 GPA and placed 19th in the pole vault (3.45m) at the outdoor championships. Haines, a biochemistry major with a 3.68 GPA and Mathes, a graphic design major with a 3.85 GPA, each ran on ranked relays.
On the men's side,
Nicholas Geiger (Mayville, WI/Mayville) and
Justin Hemshrot (Shell Lake, WI/Shell Lake) gathered USTFCCCA All-Academic honors. Geiger, an education/science major, has a 3.58 GPA and finished ninth in the heptathlon at the 2014 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships. Hemshrot has a 3.84 GPA as a natural resources major and posted the 20th-best pole vault (4.81m) in Division III this season at the UW-La Crosse Qualifier.
