OSHKOSH, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point cross country teams placed six individuals in the top-10 and took the men's title at the UW-Oshkosh Open on Friday. The women placed second.
Four men's runners finished in the top-10 lead by sophomore
Max Zeitler (Gillett, WI/Gillett), who finished fourth with a time of 26:48. Freshman
Shea Bastian (Batavia, IL/Batavia), sophomore
Hunter Styka (Kimberly, WI/Kimberly) and freshman
Nathan Dorn (Waunakee, WI/Waunakee) finished in succession placing seventh, eighth and ninth, respectively. As a team, the Pointers edged UW-Platteville for the team title, 26 to 29.
Freshman
Amanda Cieslinski (West Allis, WI/Central) ran a 26:04 to place sixth and the lead UWSP. Fellow freshman Alyssa DuCharme crossed at 26:10 to place eighth.
Kiersten Williams (Berlin, WI/Berlin),
Lindsay Steig (Osseo-Fairchild, WI/Osseo-Fairchild) and
Kendra Jaenke (Fall Creek, WI/Fall Creek) rounded out the scoring for UWSP with 12th, 13th and 14th-palce finishes, respectively.
The Pointers will host the WIAC Cross Country Championships next Saturday (Oct. 29) at the Wisconsin River Golf Club.
