LA CROSSE, Wis. – Runner-up finishes by
Michael Evans (Reedsville, WI/Valders) and
Justin Hemshrot (Shell Lake, WI/Shell Lake) were the highlights as the UW-Stevens Point men's outdoor track and field team competed at the NCAA Qualifier at UW-La Crosse's Veterans Memorial Stadium on Thursday.
ResultsEvans claimed finished as the runner-up in the event with a time of 1:51.36, the 17th-fastest time in Division III this season.
Hemshrot posted the 20th-best vault in Division III this season in the pole vault to also take second by clearing 4.81 meters (15'9.25").
After winning the event at the WIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships,
Jerry Williams (Watertown, WI/Watertown) took fourth in the triple jump (14.43m, 47'4.25"). Williams was also sixth in the long jump (6.78m, 22'3").
Matt Gerber (Tomahawk, WI/Tomahawk) ran to a fourth-place finish in the 200 meter dash (21.93).
The 4x400 meter "A" relay of
Takuto Kobayashi (Franklin, WI/Franklin),
Matt Sosinsky (Princeton, WI/Princeton),
Alec Oestreich (Merrill, WI/Merrill) and Gerber was fifth in the event (3:19.89).
In the javelin throw,
Zach Haskins (Whitewater, WI/Whitewater ) finished fifth with a throw of 51.96 meters (170'6").
Tanner Russell (Farmer City, IL/Farmer City) also secured a top-six spot in the high jump (1.92m, 6'3.5").
UW-Stevens Point continues the qualifiers at North Central in Naperville, Ill. on Friday.
