ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Jordan Richards (Stevens Point, WI/SPASH) won the long jump and the Pointers collected 124.5 team points to finish fifth at the Augustana College Meet of Champions on April 18.

Richards secured the long jump crown with a new PR, clearing 6.85 meters (22' 5.75"). Alec Dix (WIld Rose, WI/Wild Rose) was fourth in the event with a jump of 6.67 meters (21' 10.75"). Dix was also runner-up in the triple jump, posting a distance of 13.69 meters (44' 11.0").

Other highlights for the Pointers included:

Calvin VanRyzin (Appleton, WI/North) finished third in the 1,500-meter run, posting a time of 3:56.50

Alex Gonzales (West Allis, WI/West Allis Central) posted a fourth place finish in the 10,000-meter run, completing the event in 31:13.60.

The 4x100-meter relay team of Dejuan Wright, Matt Sosinsky (Princeton, WI/Princeton), Jerry Williams (Watertown, WI/Watertown) and Andrew Peot (Sister Bay, WI/Gibraltor) finished third with a time of 42.85.

The 4x400-meter relay team of Dennis Haak (Belleville, WI/Belleville), Ryan Wierzba (Rosholt, WI/Rosholt), Sosinsky and Zach Yindra (Appleton, WI/Kimberly) finished fourth with a time of 3:19.98.

Tanner Russell (Farmer City, IL/Farmer City) and Brian Andrews finished third and fourth, respectively, in the high jump, each clearing 1.91 meters (6' 3.25").

Justin Hermshrot finished third in the pole vault, clearing 4.64 meters (15' 2.75").

Nick Geiger posted a third place finish in the decathlon, scoring 6,303 points. Geiger won the 110-meter hurdles, finished runner-up in the high jump and third in the pole vault. Albert Unruh (Marshall, WI/Marshall) posted wins in the discus throw and shot put events to help him to a fifth place finish with 6,018 points.

The Pointers return to the track for the annual Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, held Thursday-Saturday, April 24-26.
