Pointers finish seventh at WIAC Indoor Championships

WHITEWATER, Wis.- The UW-Stevens Point men's indoor track and field team collected 29 team points on its way to a seventh place finish at the 2014 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Indoor Championships.

Top performers included Nicholas Geiger (Mayville, WI/Mayville), who finished third in the heptathlon, setting a new PR with 5,028 points thanks to strong finishes in the pole vault (third, 4.35 meters), high jump (second, 1.86 meters), 60-meter hurdles (third, 8.54) and 60-meter dash (fourth, 7.31).

Matt Gerber (Tomahawk, WI/Tomahawk) finished fifth in the 200-meter dash, posting a time of 22.40.

Michael Evans (Reedsville, WI/Valders) finished seventh in the 800-meter run, finishing in a time of 1:54.73.

Brian Andrews finished fifth in the high jump, clearing 1.92 meters (6'3.5").

The Pointer return to the track on Saturday, March 8 with the NCAA "National Qualifier" meet, hosted at the Multi-Activity Center in Stevens Point.
