LINCOLN, Neb. – The Pointers distance medley relay team earned All-American status on Saturday with a seventh place finish at the 2014 NCAA Division III Indoor Championships.

Dan Sullivan (Elkhorn, WI/Elkhorn), Nick Melotte, Ryan Wierzba (Rosholt, WI/Rosholt) and Dennis Haak (Belleville, WI/Belleville) posted a 10:00.09 in the relay event, capturing two team points for UWSP.

Senior Nick Geiger, who also qualified for the championship, finished ninth in the heptathlon, scoring 4882 points. Geiger posted strong finishes in the 60-meter hurdles (5th, 8.60) and pole vault (7th, 4.30 meters | 14'1.25").

The Pointers open the outdoor season on Friday, April 4 at the Rex Foster Invitational in Whitewater, Wis.
