STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's indoor track and field team opened the season on Saturday afternoon with the Pointer Open. No team scores were kept.

Highlights from the day included:
In the 800 meter run, the Pointers took home the top five spots, paced by
Michael Evans (Reedsville, WI/Valders) who finished in a time of 1:56.89.
Dane Tyler (Janesville, WI/Parker) posted the top time in the mile, finishing in 4:35.92.
Nick Geiger was the top finisher in the men's 60 meter hurdles, finishing in 8.68.
Tanner Russell (Farmer City, IL/Farmer City) cleared 1.93 meters (6'4.0") to take home the top spot in the men's high jump.
Nick Michalske (Wausau, WI/Newman Catholic) cleared 4.21 meters (13' 9.75") to take home the top spot in the pole vault, followed closely by
Derek McAllister (Milwaukee, WI/Oak Creek) who was second with his vault of 3.91 meters (12' 10")
Jerry Williams (Watertown, WI/Watertown),
Alec Dix (WIld Rose, WI/Wild Rose) and
Jordan Richards (Stevens Point, WI/SPASH) finished 1-2-3 in the long jump, with Williams' jump of 6.69 meters (21' 11.5") tops on the list.
Alec Dix (WIld Rose, WI/Wild Rose) was the top finisher in the triple jump with a 13.08 meter (42' 11") leap.
Mickey Flynn was the top performer in the shot put with a throw of 15.27 meters (50' 1.25").
Evan Cooper (Delafield, WI/Kettle Moraine) led a pack of five Pointers at the top of the 3000 meter run, posting a time of 8:54.87.
The Pointers return to action next Saturday, January 25 at UW-Platteville.
