Pointers finish second at outdoor opener

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The UW-Stevens Point men's track & field team opened the outdoor portion of its schedule on Saturday at the First Chance Meet, hosted by North Central College. The Pointers collected 154 team points on the day to finish second.

Results

Top finishers from the day included Sean Hasenstein (Sheboygan, WI/Sheboygan Lutheran), who won the men's 5000-meter run with a time of 14:56.46.

Babatunde Awosika (Milwaukee, WI/Milwaukee School of Arts) finished first in the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.62 and posted a second-place finish in the 200 with a time of 22.37.

Dan Sullivan (Elkhorn, WI/Elkhorn) and Nick Duckow finished 1-2 in the 800-meter run, posting times of 1:53.89 and 1:55.91, respectively.

Evan Hutichson was the top finisher in the javelin throw with a toss of 58.32 meters (191' 4”) and posted a second-place finish in the long jump 6.62m (21' 8.75”).

The Pointers return to action at the Rex Foster Invite at UW-Whitewater on April 6.
