Men's track finishes second, women fourth in Pointer Invite and Multi

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's track and field team took second while the women took fourth at the Pointer Invitational in the Multi, held Saturday at the Multi-Activity Center.
 
On the men's side, the Pointers took second, third and fourth place in the 800-meter run as Scott Berry (Rudolph, WI/Lincoln) ran a time of 1:56.07, Alex Steiner (Chilton, WI/Chilton) a time of 1:56.20 and Dennis Haak (Belleville, WI/Belleville) a time of 1:57.38.
 
Dan Sullivan (Elkhorn, WI/Elkhorn) placed first in the mile run, posting a time of 4:12.51 while teammate Evan Cooper (Delafield, WI/Kettle Moraine) won the 5000-meter run with a time of 15:18.39.
 
The 4x400-relay team consisting of Zach Scott-Keyser (Rockford, IL/Jefferson), Zach Yindra (Appleton, WI/Kimberly), Daniel Ostrowski (Wautoma, WI/Wautoma) and Ryan Wierzba (Rosholt, WI/Rosholt) took second with a time of 3:24.74.
 
Zach Mixdorf and Wierzba finish first and second in the high jump, clearing 2.00 and 1.80 meters, respectively, while Evan Hutichson placed second in the long jump with a leap of 6.42 meters.
 
In the pole vault heptathlon, Nick Geiger finished second with 628 points and Eric Osterdyk (Pine City, MN/Pine City) finished third with 546 points.
 
Erin Kline (Casco, WI/Luxemburg-Casco) led the Point women, taking first in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.95 and was second in the women's high jump, clearing 1.61 meters.
 
Leanna Rose (Rothschild, WI/D.C. Everest) finished second in the pole vault while Amy Krzykowski (Junction City, WI/SPASH) took third in the weight throw with a throw of 1.64 meters.
 
The 4x400-relay team consisting of Hannah School (Wittenburg, WI/Wittenburg-Birnamwood), Kristin Mathes (Kiel, WI/Kiel), Nicole Hanson (Clintonville, WI/Clintonville) and Chelsea Czarnecki (Ashland, WI/Ashland) took third with a time of 4:09.32.
 
UWSP will be back in action Friday as it travels to Whitewater for the UW-Whitewater Quad.
