STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's indoor track and field team finished third out of 15 teams Saturday, tallying 97 points at the Eastbay/Pointer Invitational.
Dennis Haak (Belleville, WI/Belleville) won the 800-meter run with a time of 1:55.68 while
Ryan Wierzba (Rosholt, WI/Rosholt) took third in the event with a time of 1:56.22.
In the 5,000-meter run,
Evan Cooper (Delafield, WI/Kettle Moraine) came away with a first-place finish, posting a time of 15:13.57 while Zach Mixdorf won the high jump with a jump of 2.04 meters and
Evan Hutchison (Green Bay, WI/Preble) won the triple jump with a jump of 13.57 meters.
Nick Krull (Marshall, WI/Marshall) took third in the triple jump, posting a jump of 13.04 meters.
Babatunde Awsika placed third in the 400-meter dash, posting a time of 50.11 while teammate
Spencer Houk (Sun Prairie, WI/Sun Prairie) finished third in the 3000-meter run with a time of 9:01.06.
The distance medley relay team consisting of
Scott Berry (Rudolph, WI/Lincoln), Awosika,
Alex Steiner (Chilton, WI/Chilton) and
Dan Sullivan (Elkhorn, WI/Elkhorn) also came away with a first-place finish with a time of 9:57.78
UWSP will be back in action Feb. 24-25 as it competes in the WIAC Indoor Championships in Menomonie.
