Track competes in final tune-up before championships

Results

STEVENS POINT – The Pointer men's and women's track & field teams had their final regular season action on Saturday as they hosted the Pointer Last Chance meet. The event was the final chance for those needing to post qualifying times for the 2011 NCAA Indoor Championships next weekend.

Highlights from the day included:

Erin Kline (Casco, WI/Luxemburg-Casco) posted one of the nation's top times in the women's 55 hurdles, 8.19, after posting a qualifying time in the prelims. 

Kelly Haen (Kaukauna, WI/Kaukauna) finished fourth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:20.56.

Claire Roberts (Oakfield/Horace Mann) posted the top time in the mile run, finishing in a time of 4:45.32

Jon Trzebiatowski (Rosholt, WI/Rosholt) finished second the 800 meter run, posting a time of 1:58.21

Brian Jensen (Kenosha, WI/Bradford) finished fourth in the 3000 meter run with his time of 9:11.59

Chad Johnson finished with the top time in the 5000 meter run with a time of 14:40.42. 

The 4x400 meter relay team of Zach Scott-Keyser (Rockford, IL/Rockford Jefferson), Tom Wenzler (Delafield/Kettle Moraine), Joshua Schwinn (Howards Grove/Howards Grove) and David Litsheim (Appleton/East) punched their ticket to the NCAA Division III Championships with a top time of 3:18.19. 

Zach Mixdorf (Stevens Point, WI/SPASH) posted the top height in the high jump, clearing 2.08m (6'9.75”)

Cody White (Madison/La Follette) finished second in the triple jump with a distance of 13.72m (45'0.25”)

Those Pointers who posted qualifying marks throughout the season will now head to Columbus, Ohio and the campus of Capitol University March 11-12.
