COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Pointer men's and women's indoor track and field team closed out the 2011 season on Saturday at the 2011 NCAA Division III Indoor Championships, hosted by Capital University in Ohio.
Two individuals and both qualified relay teams secured All-American status. The Pointer men's team finished tied for 10th place while the women finished tied for tied for 43rd.
On the women's side, Claire Roberts (Oakfield/Horace Mann) finished 10th in the finals of the mile, posting a time of 5:12.81.
The women's distance medley relay team of Kelly Haen (Kaukauna, WI/Kaukauna), EJasmine Haines (East Troy, WI/East Troy)#, Sarah Glunn (Arborvitae/Lakeland Union) and Claire Roberts (Oakfield/Horace Mann) finished fifth with a time of 12:01.51, earning All-American status.
David Litsheim (Appleton/East) closed out his indoor career with the Pointers with All-American honors, finishing seventh in the 800 meter run, posting a time of 1:54.07 in the event finals.
The 4x400 relay team of Zach Scott-Keyser (Rockford, IL/Rockford Jefferson), Tom Wenzler (Delafield/Kettle Moraine), Joshua Schwinn (Howards Grove/Howards Grove) and David Litsheim (Appleton/East) also earned All-American status, as they finished as the national runner-up in the event with a time of 3:19.45.
Brian Thill (Webster/Webster) also earned All-American status with his fifth place finish in the pentathlon. Thill collected 3633 points in the event.
The Pointers kick off the outdoor season on April 2nd when they head to Naperville, Ill. for the North Central Invitational.
