Men's Indoor Finishes Sixth at 2011 WIAC Championships

MENOMONIE – The UW-Stevens Point men's indoor track & field team collected 63 team points on its way to a sixth place finish at the 2011 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by UW-Stout.

David Litsheim (Appleton/East) secured the conference title in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:52.83, earning the Pointers 10 team points. His time also provisionally qualifies him for the NCAA Indoor championships. His time was just .03 seconds off the automatic qualifying time in the event. 

Dan Sullivan (Elkhorn, WI/Elkhorn) finished third in the one mile run, running a time of 4:14.87 in the event finals, provisionally qualifying for the indoor championships. 

The 4x400 meter relay team of #Zach Scott-Keyser, Tom Wenzler (Delafield/Kettle Moraine), Litsheim and Josh Schwinn (Howards Grove/Howards Grove) finished second in the event with a time of 3:21.06

Brian Thill (Webster/Webster) captured the men's indoor pentathlon title with a total of 3592 points. That score provisionally qualifies him for the indoor championships. Thill posted a second place finish in the shot put (12.60m; 51-04.25), fourth in the long jump (6.36m; 20-10.50) took the top spot in the high jump, clearing 1.96 meters (6-05.00). 

The Pointers will have one final chance to try and qualify athletes for the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships at the Pointer Qualifier on Saturday, March 5 in Stevens Point. The Pointers then head to Columbus, Ohio on March 11-12 for the NCAA championships hosted by Capitol University.
