STEVENS POINT - Senior
Mike Dellemann (Oregon) took home the pentathlon title, winning the 55 meter hurdles and long jump events to collect 3,568 points and punch his ticket to the NCAA Indoor Championship at the 2010 Pointer Invite on Saturday. Team scores from the event were not available at the time of this release.
Dellemann turned in the nation's fifth-best performance in the pentathlon and his 7.63 time in the 55 meter hurdles in the event was actually the fourth-best performance thus far in all of Division III. That time also qualifies him for the indoor championships in the hurdles.
Elsewhere
Nick Dax (Green Bay) and
Joshua Schwinn (Howards Grove) finished 2-3 in the 400 meter dash, with Nick posting a time of 49.62.
Adam Lang (Sheboygan) finished second in the 800, posting a time of 1:55.56
Spencer Houk (Sun Praire) and
Evan Cooper (Delafield) finished 2-3 in the 3,000 meter run, as Houk posted a time of 9:00.96.
The Pointers 4x400 relay team took home the event title, posting a time of 3:21.40.
In the field events,
Christopher Petrie (Glenbeulah) took home the top finish in the triple jump, with his jump of 14.01 meters (45'11.5”) good for the event's best.
Kyle Scofield (Green Bay) took home the shot put title with his toss of 16.53 meters (54'2.75”).
Jerry Prusinski (Rib Lake) had the best throw in the weight throw, clearing 17.46 meters (57'3.5”).
The Pointers return to action Feb. 13 when they travel to UW-Platteville for the Platteville Invitational. Action will begin at 10 a.m.
