WHITEWATER - Phil Richert (Andover, MN) punched his ticket to the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday afternoon, as his time in the men's 5,000 meter run qualified him for the national meet. Richert posted the time at the Squig Converse/Warhawk Classic on Friday afternoon.

One of a handful of Pointers to travel to the meet, Richert made the most of his trip, posting a time of 14:35.10 in the event, good for second place and eight of the team's 10 overall points at the meet. Timothy Thornburg (Delafield) earned the other two team points for UWSP, finishing seventh in the 5,000 with a time of 15:01.83.

The Pointers finished as the seventh place team at the eight team event. UW-Oshkosh took home the meet title while North Central and host UW-Whitewater rounded out the top three.
