EAU CLAIRE - The Pointer men's track & field team opened the season on Saturday afternoon, earning 116 points at the UW-Eau Claire Triangular. UW-Eau Clair finished first at the event with 204.5 points while UW-Platteville finished second, collecting 146.5 points.
Highlights from the day included
Mike Dellemann (Oregon/Oregon), who finished second in the 55 meter hurdles finals after posting the prelims best time of 7.83.
David Litsheim (Appleton/East) posted the best time in the 1 mile run, finishing in a time of 4:13.16. The Pointers also posted runners in seven of the event's top eight spots.
Elsewhere,
Zach Scott-Keyser (Rockford, IL/Rockford Jefferson) finished with a time of 50.12 in the 400 meter run, earning 10 team points. The men's 4x400 meter relay team also earned 10 team points, finishing with the events top time of 3:30.72.
In the field events,
Brian Thill (Webster/Webster) finished second in the high jump, clearing 1.92 meters, Chris Petrie finished with the best distance in the triple jump with a distance of 13.78 meters,
Jerry Prusinski (Rib Lake/Rib Lake) finished second in the men's weight throw with a toss of 16.55 meters (54'3.75”) and
Jesse Klotz (Plymouth/Plymouth) posted the best toss in the shot put with a distance of 14.45 meters.
UW-Stevens Point returns to action on Jan. 30 when they host the Pointer Quad at the Multi-Activity Center in Stevens Point.
