MARIETTA, Ohio – The UW-Stevens Point outdoor track and field team finished up action at the 2009 NCAA Division III Championships on Saturday, as the men's team finished tied for 25th, compiling 11 team points and the women's team finished tied for 53rd, compiling five team points.
On the men's side,
Adam Lang (Sheboygan/Sheboygan Lutheran) finished fourth in the 800-meter run, earning NCAA Division III All-America honors with his time of 1:51.77.
The 4x100-meter relay team of
Brad Koback (Amherst/Amherst), Pat Leonard,
Ernest Edmond (Southfield, MI/Southfield Lathrup) and
Keith Ingram (Milwaukee, WI/Riverside) earned All-America accolades, finishing seventh in the event with a time of 41.94.
Kyle Scofield (Green Bay/Preble) finished the preliminaries of the shot put with a throw of 52'4”, qualifying for the finals. In the finals, Scofield bettered his throw and posted a distance of 55'1/4”, good for a fifth place finish and another All-America award.
On the women's side,
Kathleen Folbrecht (Jefferson/Jefferson) finished eighth in the 400-meter dash, posting a time of 56:59 in the finals of the event.
The 4x400-meter relay team of
Elizabeth Caine (Plover/SPASH), Folbrecht,
Kristin Kuber (Tomahawk/Tomahawk) and
Laura Simonis (Rosholt/Rosholt) finished fifth, posting a time of 3:48.53, earning All-America status.
The Wartburg (Iowa) College women scored all 52 of their points and the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh men collected 32 of their 46 points on day three to claim the team titles Saturday (May 23) at the 2009 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championship.
