MARIETTA, Ohio –
Adam Lang (Sheboygan/Sheboygan Lutheran) and Kathleen Flobrecht both qualified for the finals of their respective events on Friday at the 2009 NCAA Division III National Championships, hosted by Marietta College.
After eight events, on the women's side, the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse leads the way with 33 points followed by the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh with 29. On the men's side, Wisconsin-Oshkosh holds down the top spot with 24 points, while the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater has 20 points.
For the Pointers on day two in the 800-meter run,
Adam Lang (Sheboygan/Sheboygan Lutheran) and
David Litsheim (Appleton/East) finished fourth and fifth respectively in the third heat, posting times of 1:51.31 and 1:51.75 respectively. Lang's time was good enough to qualify him for the finals.
Pat Leonard finished with a time of 49.51 in the 400-meter dash, posting a time of 49.51, failing to qualify for the finals.
Mike Dellemann (Oregon/Oregon) finished 16th in the decathlon, totaling 6,125 points over the two-day event, highlighted by his fifth place finish in the 100-meter dash. Outside the decathlon, Dellemann finished with a time of 15.54 in the 110-meter hurdles, failing to qualify for the finals.
On the women's side,
Kathleen Folbrecht (Jefferson/Jefferson) and
Laura Simonis (Rosholt/Rosholt) posted times of 56.53 and 58.56 respectively in the 400-meter dash. Folbrecht's time qualified her for the finals.
Elizabeth Caine (Plover/SPASH) finished with a time of 12.41 in the 100-meter dash, also failing to qualify for the finals.
The Pointers return to action on Saturday in the final day of the championships.
