DUBUQUE, Iowa - The UW-Stevens Point men's track and field team had a strong showing at the Loras Open on Saturday, with several top-five finishers. No team scores were kept at the event.
Only part of the Pointers' roster appeared at the Loras Open, as the remainder were competing at the Drake Relays.
Highlighting an impressive Pointers showing was
Mark Cufaude (Evansville), who finished first in the men's pole vault, clearing a NCAA Provisional height of 4.85m (15'11”). In the shot put,
Kyle Scofield (Green Bay) finished in second with a toss of 15.71m, also a NCAA provisional mark.
Elsewhere, Nick Shaefer finished second in the men's 10000-meter run with a time of 33:05.50,
Travis Nechuta (Mosinee) finished second in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:07.08 and in the triple jump,
Cody White (Madison) and
Evan Hutchison (Green Bay/Green Bay Preble) finished 3-4, as White finished with a distance of 13.29 and Hutchison finished with a 12.78.
The Pointers return to action next weekend at the WIAC Outdoor Championships, hosted by UW-Oshkosh on May 1-2.
