Pointers Cruise to Meet of Champions Title

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The UW-Stevens Point men's track and field team finished with 213.50 team points on Saturday afternoon, good for the top finish at the Meet of Champions, hosted by Augustana College.
 
Top finishers on the day included Kris Riggs (Stevens Point) who finished second in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.16. Adam Lang (Sheboygan) and David Litsheim (Appleton) finish 2-3 in the 800-meter run, with times of 1:53.06 and 1:54.00 respectively. Ernest Edmond (Southfield, MI) finished second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.22.

Sean Hasenstein (Sheboygan) finished first in the 5000-meter run with a time of 15:21.72 and in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 30:28.49. Corey Towle (Waukesha) and Dominick Meyer (Beloit) finished 2-3, posting times of 30:28.49and 30:33.55 respectively.

Elsewhere, Kyle Scofield (Green Bay) finished first in the shot put with a throw of 15.72m, Jerry Prusinski (Rib Lake) finished first in the hammer throw with a toss of 54.95m and Mark Cufaude (Evansville) finished with the top height in the pole vault, clearing 4.75m.

The relay teams also took home first place finishes, as the 4x100-meter relay team finished first with a time of 42.23, collecting 10 team points and the 4x400-meter relay team also finished first with a time of 3:17.47.

In the decathlon, Mike Dellemann (Oregon) finished first in the 100-meter dash (11.24), second in the long jump (6.71m), first in the shot put (12.15m), tied for third in the high jump (1.77m), second in the 400-meter dash (51.51), first in the 110-meter hurdles (15.25) and second in the discus (34.86m).

The Pointers return to action at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa April 23-25.
