ST. LOUIS – The UW-Stevens Point outdoor track and field team started the 2009 season at the Washington University Mini Meet. The men's team finished with 141 points, good for first. The women's team finished with 14 points, good for sixth place.
Highlights from the men's side included Keith Kismuke, who finished third in the men's long jump with a distance of 6.47 meters. In the men's 110-meter hurdles, Kismuke and Kris Riggs (Stevens Point, SPASH) finish 6th and 7th with times of 15.52 and 15.68 respectively.
Derek Nechuta (Mosinee) finished fourth in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:04.99. Timothy Thornburg (Delafield, Kettle Moraine) and Jason Lisowe (Chilton) finish 1-2 in 3000-meter steeplechase, posting times of 9:40.55 and 9:46.42. Patrick Leonard (Chicago, Brother Rice), Brad Koback (Amherst) and Zach Scott-Keyser (Rockford, Ill., Rockford Jefferson) finish 1-2-3 in men's 400-meter dash in times of 49.05, 50.25 and 50.47.
Adam Lang (Sheboygan, Lutheran) was the top UWSP finisher in 800 meter run, taking second with a time of 1:55.30. Ernest Edmond (Southfield, MI, Southfield Lathrup) finished first in the 200-meter dash, posting a time of 22.30 and the UWSP men's 4x400-meter relay team finished second with a time of 3:20.19.
On the women's side, Allison Wolter (Kaukauna) finished second in the 3000-meter steeplechase, Jacquelyn Boeck (Orfordville, Orfordville-Parkview) finished 8th. Wolter finished in time of 11:41.21.
Elsewhere, Kelly Haen (Kaukauna) finished fourth in 5000-meter run with a time of 18:33.29. Erica Claas (Waukesha, West) and Nikki Bruhn (Marshfield) finished 14th and 17th respectively with times of 20:13.12 and 20:14.62.
