MENOMONIE - The UW-Stevens Point men's indoor track and field team collected 135.5 team points at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) men's indoor track and field championships, but it was not enough as UW-La Crosse took home their eighth consecutive indoor title.
Two Pointers brought home three championships, as Keith Ingram (Milwaukee, Riverside University) posted a time of 6.40 in the preliminaries of the 55-meter dash and then posted a 6.35 in finals, taking home a conference title. Ingram also took home a championship in the 200-meter dash, qualifying with a time of 22.58 and finishing with a time of 22.07 in the finals.
Mike Dellemann (Oregon) took home the other championship of the event for the Pointers in the 55-meter hurdles, posting a time of 7.77.
Other highlights on the day included Dellemann and Brian Thill (Webster) finishing 2-3 in the indoor pentathlon, totaling 3282 and 3240 points respectively. Keith Dismuke (Rockford, IL, Rockford Jefferson) finished second in the men's 55-meter hurdles, just behind Dellema with a time of 7.81. Corey Towle (Waukesha, South) finished second in the men's 3000-meter run with a time of 8:34.05 and the 4x400-meter relay team of Brad Koback (Amherst), Zach Scott-Keyser (Rockford, IL, Rockford Jefferson), Andrew Jacobs (Mosinee) and Adam Lang (Sheboygan, Lutheran) finished third with a time of 3:23.48.
Elsewhere, Derek Stone (Belvidere, Ill., Belvidere) finished second in the high jump, clearing 6'6.25”, Mark Cufaude (Evansville) finished second in the pole vault, clearing a hight of 16'1.75”, Christopher Petrie (Glenbeulah, Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah) and Cody White (Madison, La Follette) finished 3rd and 5th in the men's triple jump and Kyle Scofield (Green Bay/Preble) finished second in the shot put with a toss of 16.68-meters.
Greg Haak (Belleville, Belleville) was also named to the Larry Zirgibel All-Sportsmanship Team.
The Pointers will next be in action on Saturday, March 7 when they host the Last Chance Meet in the Multi-Activity Center in Stevens Point before heading to the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships in Terre Haute, Ind.
