GREEN BAY, Wis. — The UW-Stevens Point men's and women's cross country team traveled to Green Bay for the 5^th Annual Phoenix Open. The men won the competition with a team score of 32, the women finished fourth of seven teams.

Mateo Alvarado Venegas (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) stopped the clock at 24:44.1 to win the men's race. Logan Murphy (Sheboygan Falls, Wis./Sheboygan Falls) closely followed with a time of 24:45.4 to claim second place. Kyle Kieper (Germantown, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) finished eighth with a time of 25:44.4. Ethan Vander Meer (Kiel, Wis./Kiel) took 11^th with a time of 26:06.0. Malachi Kurth (Slinger, Wis./Slinger) and Connor Amos (Lakeville, Minn./Rosemount) finished 13^th and 14^th with times of 26:09.9 and 26:10.5, respectively. Thomas Nelson (New Glarus, Wis./New Glarus) had a 16^th-place finish with a time of 26:14.9.
 
Faith Wehrman (New Berlin, Wis./Eisenhower) led the women's team with a second-place finish and a time of 22:19.6. Elise Gardiner (Milwaukee, Wis./Wauwatosa East) took 29^th with a time of 23:53.7. Lola Janiszewski (Muskego, Wis./Muskego), Judith Meister (Darlington, Wis./Darlington) and Brooklyn Hoff (Menomonie, Wis./Menomonie) rounded out the women's team scoring with times of 24:06.0, 24:14.4 and 24:17.6, respectively.
 
The Pointers are back in action on October 3 for Pre-Nationals meet in Northfield, Minn.
