DE PERE, Wis.—The UW-Stevens Point men's and women's track and field teams opened the outdoor season at the St. Norbert College Opener, where they each took second. The men finished with a score of 219 and the women finished with a score of 218.
 
Results
 
The men were led by dominating field performances from Thomas Cole (Oconomowoc, Wis./Oconomowoc), Aidan Court (Seymour, Wis./Seymour), Jack Marsh (Pulaski, Wis./Pulaski), Jacob McConnell (Wonder Lake, Ill./Woodstock North) and Austin Rennhack (Columbus, Wis./Columbus).
 
Cole won the javelin throw with a mark of 49.80 meters.
 
Court took first place in the long jump with a leap of 6.75 meters.
 
Marsh had a throw of 47.66 meters in the discus throw to take first place.
 
McConnell posted a first-place finish in the hammer throw with a distance of 49.80 meters.
 
Rennhack won the shot put with a mark of 16.39 meters.
 
The women were led by multiple first-place finishes from Lindsey Taylor (Mukwonago, Wis./Mukwonago). She won the long jump, and the javelin throw with marks of 5.36 meters and 34.16 meters, respectively.
 
Melanie Princl (West Bend, Wis./West) took the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.58.
 
Madeline Zirbel (De Pere, Wis./De Pere) posted a first-place finish in the high jump with a height of 1.55 meters.
 
Bella Harriman (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet) had a throw of 36.77 meters in the discus throw to take first place.
 
Guadalupe Corn (Keshena, Wis./Menominee Indian) took first in the shot put with a mark of 12.23 meters.
 
The 4x100-meter relay team consisting of Princl, Madi Fisher, Grace Goodness (Pulaski, Wis./Pulaski) and Adyn Theriault (Fort Atkinson, Wis./Fort Atkinson) took first place with a time of 49.87.
 
The UWSP men's and women's track and field teams are back in action on April 4 for the Rex Foster Invite at UW-Whitewater.
