OSHKOSH, Wis.—The UW-Stevens Point men's and women's cross country teams competed in the WIAC Championships (presented by Culver's). The men finished third, and the women finished fifth.
Results
The men were led by
Mateo Alvarado Venegas (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie),
Logan Murphy (Sheboygan Falls, Wis./Sheboygan Falls),
Mike Brown (Butternut, Wis./Butternut),
Malachi Kurth (Slinger, Wis./Slinger) and
Sean Heetland (North Aurora, Ill./West Aurora). Alvarado Venegas crossed the line at 24:28.0 to take 13th. Murphy finished three places behind with a time of 24:42.8. Brown finished 19
th with a time of 24:51.7, with Kurth finishing just behind him with a time of 24:52.7. Heetland finished 27
th with a time of 25:02.4 to round out the team's scoring.
The women were led by
Brooklyn Hoff (Menomonie, Wis./Menomonie),
Makaela Malin (Monticello, Minn./St. Michael, Albertville),
Meg McAfee (Shawnee, Kan./Mill Valley),
Lauren Sadowski (Marinette, Wis./Marinette) and Brooklyn Schoenik. Hoff took 25
th with a time of 22:24.1, Malin finished four places behind with a time of 22:32.4. McAfee, Sadowski and Schoenik finished 31
st, 37
th and 44
th , respectively, to finish out the team's scoring.
The Pointers are back in action on Nov. 15 at the NCAA Regionals in Eau Claire, Wis.
