Six Pointers Earn Academic-All District Honors

STEVENS POINT, Wis.— Six UW-Stevens Point football players earned College Sport Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honors, as announced on Tuesday (Jan. 7). Senior Zachary Kriegel (Merrill, Wis./Merrill), juniors Joe Berens (Wausau, Wis./West), Grant Kirsch (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) and Tanner Mrotek (Manitowoc, Wis./Lincoln) along with sophomores Gavin Adams (Mukwonago, Wis./Mukwonago) and Zander Popp (Two Rivers, Wis./Two Rivers).

Kriegel earned his second-straight Academic All-District nod. He started and played in all 10 games this season. Kriegel has been named to the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll the last three years.
 
Berens landed his first Academic All-District honor. He started and played in all 10 games with 23 solo tackles, 24 assisted tackles and one fumble recovery. He has been named to the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll the last two years.
 
Kirsch earned his first Academic All-District nod. He played in all 10 games this season. Kirsch was named to the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll last year.
 
Mrotek earned his first Academic All-District honor. He played in nine games this season with 10 solo tackles, 14 assisted tackles, earned six sack yards and eight tackles for loss yards. Mrotek has been named to the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll the last two years.
 
Adams landed his first Academic All-District honor. He started in seven games while playing in all 10 games this season with 18 solo tackles, two assisted tackles and earned five tackles for loss yards. Adams was named to the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll last year.
 
Popp earned his first Academic All-District nod. He started nine games while playing in all 10 games this season with 25 solo tackles, 33 assisted tackles, earned three tackles for loss yards, one interception for a seven-yard return, and returned one punt for a 10-yard return. Popp was named to the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll last year.
