Krouse, Murphy Post Top-10 Finishes at Phoenix Open

GREEN BAY, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point cross country teams competed at the Phoenix Open on Friday with the men finishing third and the women taking ninth.

Logan Murphy (Sheboygan Falls, Wis./Sheboygan Falls) led the Pointers with a fifth-place finish in the 100-runner field. His time of 24:54.6 was bested only by a quartet of DI runners. Joe McNulty, Dean Montour (Middleton, Wis./Middleton) and Aidan Schleutermann (Woodstock, Ill./Woodstock) came in 15th, 16th and 17th, respectively. Freshman Sean Heetland (North Aurora, Ill./West Aurora) took 24th to round out the team scoring.
 
On the women's side, Rachel Krouse (Milwaukee, Wis./Wauwatosa West) finished seventh out of the 100 finishers. Her time was 22:27.9 with only runners from DI and DII programs finishing ahead of her. Brooklyn Hoff (Menomonie, Wis./Menomonie) was the next Pointer across the finish line taking 36th. Makaela Malin (Monticello, Minn./St. Michael, Albertville), Judith Meister (Darlington, Wis./Darlington) and Kaylee Peterson (Cazenovia, Wis./Ithaca) rounded out the team scoring.
 
The Pointers return to action on Sept. 20 at the Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis, Minn., beginning at 10:45 a.m.
