ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The UW-Stevens Point cross country teams had solid showing at the Augustana Regional Rumble. The UWSP men finished sixth in the gold race and third in the blue race. The women were 22nd in the gold and 10th in the blue.

For the men in the gold race, Logan Murphy (Sheboygan Falls, Wis./Sheboygan Falls) crossed the line first in 27th with a time of 24:53.1. Mateo Alvarado-Venegas was just eight seconds back with a time of 25:01.0 to place 33rd. Mike Brown (Butternut, Wis./Butternut), Dean Montour (Middleton, Wis./Middleton) and Derek Penzkover (Rice Lake, Wis./Rice Lake) all placed in the top-70 in the race out of 436 finishers.
 
Logan Lutz (Greendale, Wis./Greendale) took sixth in the blue race with a time of 25:49.5. Thomas Nelson (New Glarus, Wis./New Glarus) was 13th at 26:05.8. Martin Kimmel (Deerfield, Wis./Deerfield), Joseph Adams (Oconto Falls, Wis./Oconto Falls) and Ethan Vandermeer were all in the top-48 out of the 407 finishers.
 
In the women's gold race, Rachel Krouse (Milwaukee, Wis./Wauwatosa West) came in 28th to lead the Pointers with a time of 22:08.3. Natalie Johnson (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) and Brooklyn Hoff (Menomonie, Wis./Menomonie) were just over a second apart with 149th- and 152nd-place finishes. Judith Meister (Darlington, Wis./Darlington) and Kassia Marquardt (Sauk Prairie, Wis./Sauk Prairie) rounded out the scoring.
 
Abbigail Schell (Wauwatosa, Wis./Wauwatosa East) was the top UWSP finisher in the women's blue race in 41st with a time of 24:52.0. Alyssa Giese (Fond du Lac, Wis./Fond du Lac) was 51st at 25:08.9. Ashlee Lord (La Grange, Ill./LaSalle-Peru), Erin Fredrickson (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) and Margaret Hopkins (South Bend, Ind./Saint Joseph) were all top-100 finishers out of the 264 racers.
 
The Pointers will next be in action as the host of the WIAC Championships on Nov. 2. The first race begins at 12:00 p.m. at the Wisconsin River Golf Course.
