Three members of the UW-Stevens Point baseball team were selected to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District squads announced Tuesday (May 16). Pitcher
Tyler Beyer (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis./Lincoln) and
Nathan Krommenakker (Rudolph, Wis./Lincoln) along with hitter
Logan Homolka (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield) were recipients.

Beyer gets his first academic all-district selection. This season, Beyer has started and appeared out of the bullpen tossing 30.0 combined innings. He holds a 1-2 record with a 5.70 ERA with 17 strikeouts and just three walks allowed. He earned the win in his first career start going 6.0 scoreless frames to beat St. Scholastica on March 5. He had three strikeouts in that win and has matched that season best two other times this year.

Krommenakker also picks up his first academic laurel. He has pitched in nine games this season, all in relief. He has a 1-2 record with 16 strikeouts in 17.0 innings of work. He struck out a season-high three against Roger Williams (Mar. 18) and again at UW-Platteville (Mar. 26).

Homolka notches his first academic all-district nod as well. He has started all 26 games he has played in this season. He is hitting .312 with three home runs and 18 RBI. He has three doubles and a triple among his 29 hits. On the season, he has eight multi-hit games, including four in which he has three hits. Homolka had a season-high four RBI in a win over Southern Maine on March 18.

UWSP will host an NCAA Tournament Regional beginning Friday (May 19). The Pointers face Augustana at 10:00 a.m. before Webster and Loras play at 1:30 p.m. at Zimmermann Field.

To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution.
