DE PERE, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point baseball team (10-15) scored eight runs in the eighth to pick up an 11-4 win at St. Norbert (15-14) in non-conference play on Thursday.
Tommy Drohner (Plover, Wis./SPASH) went 4-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored.
Braylen Nystrom (Stevens Point, Wis./SPASH),
Connor Olson (Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead) and
Landon Parlier (Wausau, Wis./West) added two hits each.
Kamden Oliver (Viroqua, Wis./Viroqua) and Olson each homered with five combined RBI.
SNC got on the board with a leadoff solo home run in the first inning to put UWSP behind, 1-0.
Drohner reached on a bunt single with one away in the third. Oliver was hit by a pitch and Nystrom singled to tie the game at 1-1. After a wild pitch put two in scoring position, Olson hit a sac fly as UWSP went ahead, 2-1. Parlier drew a walk and
Nick Argersinger (Bristol, Wis./Westosha Central) hit a single to plate another run.
In the bottom of the third, the Grenn Knights tied the game at 3-3 on a pair of hits. SNC broke the tie in the seventh on a pair of hits to put UWSP behind, 4-3.
Olson began the eighth with a solo home run. Parlier singled and an error put two aboard.
Drew Mistele (Baraboo, Wis./Baraboo) reached on a bunt single to load the bases.
Easton Snow (DeForest, Wis./DeForest Area) drew a walk to push home the go-ahead run. Two batters later, Drohner doubled to plate two more. Oliver followed with a three-run home run. Nystrom singled and Olson doubled to put two in scoring position.
Jackson Adams (Janesville, Wis./Janesville Craig) hit a sac fly to cap the eight-run frame.
Josh Steger (Lomira, Wis./Lomira) went 3.0 innings with a strikeout.
Jeremiah Jahnke (Winneconne, Wis./Winneconne) went 2.1 and allowed just one hit.
Joe Schneider (Rhinelander, Wis./Rhinelander) recorded a strikeout in 1.2 innings.
Bryce Ehr (Plover, Wis./SPASH) struck out three in 2.0 innings.
The Pointers travel to Menomonie for a weekend series against UW-Stout beginning on Saturday (Apr. 18) at 12:00 p.m.
