STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point baseball team (15-16, 8-12) played 23 innings of action against UW-Eau Claire (17-14, 10-9) and the teams split the twin bill. UWSP got a 9-8 walk-off win in 13 innings in game one. After tying the game in the bottom of the ninth in game two, UWSP fell, 11-8, in 10 innings.
 
Tommy Drohner (Plover, Wis./SPASH) and Braylen Nystrom (Stevens Point, Wis./SPASH) had five hits apiece on the day. Nystrom homered twice and drove in four. Drohner had an RBI and scored twice.
 
Jackson Adams (Janesville, Wis./Janesville Craig) and Drew Mistele (Baraboo, Wis./Baraboo) added four hits each. Adams scored five runs and drove in another. Kamden Oliver (Viroqua, Wis./Viroqua) had three hits and five walks. He drove in three and scored twice.
 
Game 1 – UWSP 9, UWEC 8 (13 inn.)
The Blugolds got on the board in the second turning a leadoff walk into a run without a hit. UWEC added three runs in the third as UWSP fell behind, 4-0.
 
Nystrom doubled to start the fourth inning. He moved up on a groundout and scored on another to get UWSP on the board.
 
Both teams scored two runs in the fifth. Easton Snow (DeForest, Wis./DeForest Area) reached on a wild pitch to begin the bottom of the frame. Adams replaced him at first on a fielder's choice. Drohner singled to put two aboard. Another fielder's choice and a throwing error allowed Adams to score. Connor Olson (Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead) followed with a double to plate another run to make it 7-3.
 
Adams was hit by a pitch to lead off the seventh. Two batters later, Oliver singled to put runners on the corners. Olson was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Nystrom singled to drive in one. Mistele hit a sac fly to plate another. Nick Argersinger (Bristol, Wis./Westosha Central) singled as UWSP got within 8-6.
 
Landon Parlier (Wausau, Wis./West), Adams and Drohner had consecutive singles to load the bases with no outs in the eighth. A fielder's choice plated one run. Olson hit a sac fly as the Pointers tied the game at 8-8.
 
The game remained deadlocked at 8-8 until the bottom of the 13th. Nystrom led off and blasted the eighth pitch of the at-bat out to left for a walk-off home run.
 
Nystrom started the game on the mound and went 3.1 innings. JT Hockers (Middleton, Wis./Middleton) pitched 3.2 frames and struck out three. Jeremiah Jahnke (Winneconne, Wis./Winneconne) tossed 6.0 innings and earned the win. He struck out nine.
 
Game 2 – UWSP 8, UWEC 11 (10 inn.)
The Pointers fell into a 7-0 hole after two innings as UWEC turned seven hits into seven runs over the two frames.
 
Nystrom belted his second home run in as many at bats to lead off the second for the Pointers.
 
Admas singled and stole second with one away in the third. He scored on a single by Olson as UWSP got within 7-2.
 
Drohner and Oliver hit back-to-back one-out singles in the seventh. Olson drew a walk to load the bases. Nystrom hit a sac fly as UWSP could only push home on run in the frame to make it 8-3.
 
Cooper Brown (Appleton, Wis./West) singled with one away in the eighth. Parlier and Adams singled to push in one run. Drohner singled to plate another. Oliver ripped a double to drive in two more as UWSP got within 8-7.
 
In the bottom of the ninth, Mason Fink (Verona, Wis./Verona) hit a solo home run with two away to tie the game at 8-8.
 
The Blugolds plated three unearned runs in the 10th on three hits and an error. The Pointers got two on in the bottom of the inning on singles by Mistele and Argersinger, but UWSP couldn't muster another comeback.
 
Kaeden Wagenaar (Algonquin, Ill./Jacobs) and Ethan Winkler (Appleton, Wis./East) tossed 3.0 innings each. Jaycob Dittmer (Denmark, Wis./Denmark) and Jake Williams (Carol Stream, Ill./Wheaton North) had 1.0 scoreless frames apiece. Joe Schnieder and Bryce Ehr (Plover, Wis./SPASH) each struck out two in 2.0 combined innings.
 
The Pointers will host UW-La Crosse in a four-game series starting on Saturday (Apr. 25) at 12:00 p.m.
