PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point track and field teams began the outdoor season at the Pioneer Open in Platteville on Saturday. The women won four events while the men won one event. No team scores were kept.

For the women,
Brooke Wellhausen (Williams Bay, Wis./Big Foot) took first place in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:16.89, nearly three seconds faster than the runner up.
Adyn Theriault (Fort Atkinson, Wis./Fort Atkinson) won the 100-meter dash. Her winning time was 12.72, the lone sub-13 time.
Ashley Bartelt (Hartford, Wis./Hartford Union) finished first in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:03.93, a nearly two-second cushion over the runner-up.
In the 3000-meter steeplechase,
Gabri Gaines (Madison, Wis./Memorial) took first with a time of 12:28.16. Pointers
Paige Allemann (Waumandee, Wis./Cochrane-Fountain City) and
Natalie Johnson (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) followed in second and third, respectively.
Mackenzie Johnson (Cumberland, Wis./Cumberland) placed second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.31.
Guadalupe Corn (Keshena, Wis./Menominee Indian) also took second in the shot put with a distance of 13.43 meters (44' 0.75").
Bella Harriman (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet) was also a second-place finisher in the discus throw with a toss of 36.29 meters (119' 1.00").
For the men,
Austin Rennhack (Columbus, Wis./Columbus) won the shot put with a distance of 15.07 meters (49' 5.25"). He also took second in the hammer throw with a distance of 46.69 meters (153' 2.00").
Caleb Carter (Lisle, Ill./Lisle) placed second in the long jump with a distance of 6.70 meters (21' 11.75").
Sean Campbell (Belleville, Wis./Belleville) was second in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:41.43.
The Pointers will travel to Whitewater on Friday (April 7) for the Rex Foster Invite. Action begins at 12:00 p.m.
