LA CROSSE, Wis.—The UW-Stevens Point men's and women's track and field teams competed in three events on day one of the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Faith Wehrman (New Berlin, Wis./Eisenhower) had a record-setting day on day one. She recorded a personal-best time and broke the school record in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 35:04.97 to take 10
th place.
The men's 4x400-meter relay team of
Mason Mead (Wausau, Wis./West),
Ben Kempe (Stevens Point, Wis./SPASH),
Matthew Jokela (Lake Linden, Mich./Lake Linden-Hubbell) and
Simeion Harris (Sandwich, Ill./Sandwich) took 15
th with a time of 3:13.95.
Mateo Alvarado Venegas (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) claimed the Pointers' highest finish in ninth with a personal-best time of 29:51.73 in the 10,000-meter run.
Logan Murphy (Sheboygan Falls, Wis./Sheboygan Falls) finished five places behind with a time of 30:06.16.
Madeline Zirbel (De Pere, Wis./De Pere) opens day two of the NCAA Outdoor Championships tomorrow (May 22) in the high jump at 2:00 p.m.
