UWSP will open the season on Thursday, August 31 with a 6:00 p.m. kickoff at Ohio Valley Conference opponent Lindenwood. The Lions went 7-3 a season ago with all three losses in OVC play. The game will mark the first-ever matchup between UWSP and Lindenwood on the gridiron.
Week two sees the Pointers open the home slate with a 1:00 p.m. kickoff against St. Norbert. The game will be the annual Spud Bowl. UWSP has won five of the last six matchups with the Green Knights, including a 34-33 double overtime victory in 2017, the last meeting in Stevens Point.
Following a bye week, UWSP will wrap up non-conference play at Albion. The Pointers are 5-1 all-time against Albion with the last meeting in 2017 going the Pointers' way, 33-19, in Michigan.
The annual Pink Game for Cancer features UW-Eau Claire in town for the conference opener on Sept. 30. Kickoff is slated for 1:00 p.m. in what is sure to be an electric atmosphere at Goerke Park.
UWSP then hits the road for two straight in league play at UW-Platteville and at UW-Stout. The Pointers return home on Oct. 21 for the Homecoming Game against UW-River Falls. Kick off is slated for 1:00 p.m.
The road finale also closes out October as UWSP travels to UW-Oshkosh on Oct. 28. The regular season concludes with back-to-back home games against UW-Whitewater (Nov. 4) and UW-La Crosse (Nov. 11). Both games begin at 1:00 p.m. and UWSP will celebrate its seniors against the Eagles.
Three members of the 2022 All-WIAC team -
Harley Jones (Lake Mills, Wis./Lake Mills),
Carter Unger (Waukesha, Wis./South) and
Tysen White (McFarland, Wis./McFarland) – return to the 2023 team. Venne got his first win at UWSP in last season's Pink Game against Simpson.
