LA CROSSE, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point track and field teams both sit in seventh after the first day of the WIAC Outdoor Championships (presented by Culver's).

For the men, Austin Rennhack (Columbus, Wis./Columbus) had the best placing on the day with a fourth-place finish in the javelin. He reached a distance of 51.45 meters (68' 9").
 
Blake Orr (Waupaca, Wis./Waupaca) took sixth in the hammer throw with a distance of 53.44 meters (175' 4"). Derek Penzkover (Rice Lake, Wis./Rice Lake) placed eighth in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:29.21.
 
Jared Schrang (Oconomowoc, Wis./Oconomowoc) advanced to tomorrow's finals in both the 110- and 400-meter hurdles. His times on Friday were the second-best in both events.
 
Nick Chesterman (Sun Prairie, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) sits in fifth in the decathlon after five events. He has a score of 3355.
 
Brooke Wellhausen (Williams Bay, Wis./Big Foot) had the women's best podium finish, a fourth-place finish in the 3000-meter steeplechase. Her time of 11:15.75 was a mere 0.29 seconds out of third.
 
In the hammer throw, Brilyn Brecka (Alma, Wis./Alma) took sixth with a throw of 47.67 meters (156' 4").
 
Leyna Herzog (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) advanced to Saturday's finals in both the 100- and 200-meter dashes. Savana Burg (Cedar Grove, Wis./Sheboygan Falls), Chrissy Hughes (Milton, Wis./Milton) and Ashley Bartelt (Hartford, Wis./Hartford Union) also advanced to tomorrow's finals in the 400-meter dash, 100-meter hurdles and 400-meter hurdles, respectively.
 
Amanda Momont (Auburndale, Wis./Auburndale) is in eighth in the heptathlon after four events. Her score is 2079.
