RIVER FALLS, Wis. – UW-Stevens Point track and field's Sylviann Momont (Auburndale, Wis./Auburndale) won the heptathlon with a school record score at the WIAC Championships (presented by Culver's).  With Momont's win, the UWSP women took third in the team standings.  The Pointers' men's team finished sixth.
 
Results
 
Momont held her lead over teammate Briana Simonis (Rosholt, Wis./Rosholt) to win the heptathlon.  Her score of 4882 broke the UWSP outdoor record that stood since 1987.  On Saturday, she won the long jump giving her victories in four of the events.
 
On the men's side, Jared Schrang (Oconomowoc, Wis./Oconomowoc) was victorious in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 53.74.  He also was second in the 110-meter hurdles just 0.08 seconds back at 14.72.
 
UWSP's Mike Ayensu-Mensah (Appleton, Wis./North) placed second in the high jump with a height of 2.03 meters (6" 8").  Nick Chesterman (Sun Prairie, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) finished second in the decathlon with 6329 points.  Sam Welch (Manawa, Wis./Manawa) was also a runner-up finisher in the 400-meter dash clocking in at 48.39.
 
Paige Allemann (Waumandee, Wis./Cochrane-Fountain City) took second in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:43.76.  Katie Schaefer (Lombard, Ill./Glenbard East) placed third in the 5000-meter run as did UWSP's 4x100- and 4x400-meter relays.
 
Third-place finishers on the men's side included Braedon Gilles (Middleton, Wis./Middleton) in the 800-meter run, Alex Poncelet (Hastings, Minn./Hastings) in the discus throw and UWSP's 4x400-meter relay.
 
The Pointers will next partake in the Eagle Open in La Crosse on Friday (May 14).
