STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point track and field team won 17 events on Saturday to defeat visiting UW-Platteville in dual action, 81-52 for the men and 72-59 for the women.
 
Results
 
On the women's side, Shannon Nelson (Franklin, Wis./Oak Creek) took the top spot in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.03. 
 
Brooke Wellhausen (Williams Bay, Wis./Big Foot) edged out the runner-up in the 800-meter run.  Her winning time of 2:19.08 was less than a quarter of a second out front.
 
Paige Allemann (Waumandee,Wis./Cochrane-Fountain City) dominated the 5000-meter run posting a time of 18:57.51, more than 30 seconds ahead of second place.
 
In the 60-meter hurdles, Elle Maculan (Rockford, Ill./Auburn) took first place with a time of 9.46. 
 
The Momont sisters won the high and long jumps.  Amanda Momont (Auburndale, Wis./Auburndale) earned the top spot in the high jump clearing 1.46 meters (4' 9.5").  Sylviann Momont (Auburndale, Wis./Auburndale) won the long jump with a distance of 5.31 meters (17' 5.25").
 
Kasy Walker-Daniels (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) continued to own the triple jump title, winning the event again, this time with a distance of 10.62 meters (34' 10.25").
 
For the men, Braedon Gilles (Middleton, Wis./Middleton) earned the win in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:57.67, a two second advantage over the runner-up.
 
Noah Rosas (Franklin, Wis./Franklin) won the 400-meter dash with a time of 54.60.
 
Michael Kluz (Oconomowoc,Wis./Oconomowoc) led the whole way en route to a nearly seven second victory in the 5000-meter run. His time was 15:43.88.
 
Jared Schrang (Oconomowoc, Wis./Oconomowoc) edged out teammate Omena Onomakpome (Hobart, Ind./Hobart) in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.46.
 
UWSP's 4x400-meter relay team of Quinn Brownell (Pewaukee, Wis./Pewaukee), Gilles, Trevor Howe (Viroqua, Wis./Viroqua) and Devin Stowell (Kronenwetter, Wis./D.C. Everest) won the event with a time of 3:38.58.
 
Mike Ayensu-Mensah (Appleton, Wis./North) claimed first place again in the high jump clearing a height of 1.97 meters (6' 5.5").
 
Tom Kohn (Minnetonka, Minn./Minnetonka) again swept the long and triple jumps.  His winning distances were 6.64 meters (21' 9.5") and 14.54 meters (47' 8.5"), respectively.
 
Blake Orr (Waupaca, Wis./Waupaca) won both throwing events.  He won the shot put with a distance of 14.89 meters (48' 10.25") and the weight throw with a distance of 17.23 meters (56' 6.5").
 
The Pointers host UW-Platteville again next Saturday (Feb. 20).  Events start at 12:00 p.m.
