GREEN LAKE, Wis. – It was a clean sweep by the UW-Stevens Point men's and women's cross country teams placing first at the Red Hawk Open. The women's team took over the top five spots with
Ashley Spatz (Sheboygan Halls, Wis./Big Foot) leading the way. Three top five finishers for the men's team with
Ryan Reed (Madison, Wis./West) crossing the line first overall.
Results
Spatz led the pack crossing the finish line first overall with a time of 24:29.79. Right on her tail was
Olivia Greymont (Cedarburg, Wis./Cedarburg) in second place with a time of 24:41.84. Next to cross the line was
Olivia Franklin (Kaneland) in third place with a time of 25:05.89.
Emma Guenther (Monroe, Wis./Albany) and
Vanessa Olson (Watertown, Wis./Watertown) rounded out the top-five placing fourth and fifth with times of 25:06.97 and 25:16.07.
For the men's team, Reed placed first overall with a time of 27:13.09. In third place with a time of 27:13.09 was
Marcus Johnson (Burlington, Wis. /Union Grove). Next was
John Lee (Madison, Wis./Madison West) in fourth place with a time of 27:38.40. Rounding out the top five finishers for the Pointers was
Sean Campbell (Belleville, Wis. /Belleville) and
Derek Penzkover (Rice Lake, Wis. /Rice Lake) in ninth and 11th place with times of 27:46.84 and 28:01.56.
The Pointers cross country team goes to Colfax, Wis. for the NCAA Midwest Regional on Saturday (Nov. 13) at 11:00 a.m.
