The UW-Stevens Point track and field teams had athletes competing at three different events this weekend with aspirations of qualifying for next week's NCAA Indoor National Championships.  On Friday, a quartet of athletes competed at the Carthage Final Qualifier.  On Saturday, UWSP sent a small group to Wartburg while a vast majority of Pointers competed in the Multi-Activity Center it he Pointer Final Qualifier.

Adrienne Lewis (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly) won the long jump at both Carthage and the Pointer Qualifier. Her best mark was at Carthage at 5.52 meters.
 
Larkin Hoepner (Eau Claire, Wis./North) won the shot put and weight throw today.  Her distance in the shot was 43-03.75 (13.20 meters).  She won the weight throw with a distance of 52-06.50 (16.01 meters).
 
Rebecca Alter (Trevor, Wis./Wilmot) won the 400-meter dash in a time of 1:02.13.  Michelle Petkovsek (Waupaca, Wis./Waupaca) took first in the 800-meter run clocking a time of 2:18.35.  Taylor Campbell (Wisconsin Dells, Wis./Wisconsin Dells) finished first in the 3,00-meter run with a time of 11:20.83.
 
The men earned a trio of runner-up finishes in the field events on Saturday.  OJ James (Milwaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) leaped a distance of 19-05.50 (5.93 meters) to place second in the long jump.  Caleb Carter (Lisle, Ill./Lisle) took second in the triple jump with a distance of 40-08.25 (12.40 meters).  Blake Orr (Waupaca, Wis./Waupaca) came in second in the shot put with a throw of 49-10.50 (15.20 meters).  He took second in the weight throw at Carthage on Friday.
 
Golden Cotton (Milwaukee, Wis./Greenfield) was runner-up in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.92.
 
A list of NCAA Championship qualifiers will be announced on Sunday.
