CUBA CITY, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point cross country teams ran in the chilly conditions at Saturday's WIAC Championships (presented by Culver's) with the women placing fourth and the men sixth in the eight team field.
Results
Emma Guenther (Monroe, Wis./Albany) paced the women with a 24th-place finish in a time of 24:49.4. Teammate
Paige Allemann (Waumandee,Wis./Cochrane-Fountain City) was right behind in 25th at 25:00.7.
Michelle Petkovsek (Waupaca, Wis./Waupaca) was the next UWSP runner across the finish at 25:26.7, good for 32nd.
Taylor Campbell (Wisconsin Dells, Wis./Wisconsin Dells) and
Katie Schaefer (Lombard, Ill./Glenbard) wrapped up the scoring for the Pointers with 34th- and 35th-place finishes. Their times were 25:32.1 and 25:41.0.
On the men's side,
Matt Stelmasek (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) came in 12th with a run of 26:44.7.
Tyler Tanko (Stevens Point, Wis./SPASH) took 21st with a time of 27:12.2.
Alex Egbert (Sparta, Wis./Aquinas) and
Axel Treinen (Wausau, Wis./East) crossed in 30th and 31st with times of 27:33.5 and 27:43.1, respectively. Bobby Lutz closed out the scoring with a 39th-place finish at 27:51.6.
The Pointers travel to Winneconne on Nov. 16 for the NCAA Midwest Regional. The first race begins at 11:00 a.m. at Lake Breeze Golf Course.
