EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point cross country teams each recorded top-five team finishes among the large field at Friday's BluGold Invite. The Pointers men placed second out of 29 teams and the women placed fourth out of 27 teams.
Results
Matt Stelmasek (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) paced a quartet of Pointers in the top-20 with a seventh-place finish in a time of 25:20.77. Bobby Lutz and
Tyler Tanko (Stevens Point, Wis./SPASH) came in 13th and 14th with times of 25:28.8 and 25:30.1, respectively.
Axel Treinen (Wausau, Wis./East) crossed in 18th in the 446-runner field at 25:32.3.
Georgia Harrison (West Bend, Wis./East) placed ninth for the women among the 343 racers with a time of 22:31.0.
Michelle Petkovsek (Waupaca, Wis./Waupaca) strided across the finish in a time of 23:24.8, good for 34th.
Katie Schaefer (Lombard, Ill./Glenbard),
Catie Gage (Janesville, Wis./Parker) and
Paige Allemann (Waumandee,Wis./Cochrane-Fountain City) capped the Pointers' scorers with placings of 44th, 45th and 48th, respectively.
The UWSP cross country teams travel to Appleton, Wis., for the Gene Davis Invite next Saturday (Oct. 12) with the first race beginning at 10:30 a.m.
