BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UW-Stevens Point track and field team is sending nine student-athletes to compete in 10 events at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Birmingham, Ala., at the Birmingham CrossPlex this Friday (March 9) through Saturday.

Heat Sheets
Sophomore
Calden Wojt (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield) will compete in the 200-meter dash at the NCAA Championships on Saturday. He enters with the fastest time in the country in the event with a time of 21.49 set at the WIAC Indoor Track & Field Championships on Feb. 22. Wojt set the university record with a time of 21.87 in the event at the WIAC Championships, the top time in the WIAC this year.
Freshman
Tom Kohn (Minnetonka, Minn./Minnetonka) enters the championships in the triple jump in fifth place also competing on Saturday. He qualified with a leap of 14.78 meters (48' 6") at the Carthage Final Qualifier on Feb. 16.
Junior
Jeremy Lee (Viroqua, Wis./Viroqua) will be competing in the heptathlon over the two-day event. He qualified with a total score of 4,995 at the WIAC Indoor Track & Field Championships on Feb. 22. Last year, he was an All-American in the event with a sixth-place finish.
Brent Reierson (Watertown, Wis./Watertown) enters the championships seventh in the shot put and 11th in the 35-pound weight throw. In the shot put, he advanced with a distance of 16.78 meters (55' 0.75") at the Pointer Final Qualifier on March 3. He was an All-American at last year's championships with a seventh-place finish. In the 35-pound weight, he qualified with a throw of 18.46 meters (60' 6.75") at the Pointer Invitational of Feb. 3. The senior thrower is will compete in weight throw on Friday and the shot put on Saturday.
Freshman
Adrienne Lewis (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly) enters her first NCAA Championships in the long jump. She qualified at the Midwest Elite Invitational on Feb. 10, where she leaped a distance of 5.73 meters (18' 9.75"), the best jump in the WIAC this year. She will compete in the long jump on Friday.
Sylviann Momont (Auburndale, Wis./Auburndale) enters her second NCAA Championships in the indoor pentathlon, where she is seeded eighth. She punched her ticket to the championships at the Wartburg Qualifer on March 2 with a score of 3,353. Momont was an All-American at last season's championship when she finished in eighth place in the event. She will compete in all five events of the pentathlon on Friday.
Evan Torgerson (Weston, Wis./D.C. Everest) enters his first championships in the 400-meter dash, where he is seeded 14th. He qualified with a time of 48.26 at the Pointer Final Qualifier on March 3. This season, he held the second best time in the WIAC. The preliminaries of the 400-meter dash are Friday with the finals on Saturday.
Hannah Mertens (West Bend, Wis./Hartford Union) is making her first appearance at the NCAA Championships in the 200-meter dash seeded in 11th. This season, she qualified at the WIAC Championships with a school-record time of 25.48. Mertens is a two-time All-American in the 4x400-meter relay. She will run the 200-meter dash on Saturday.
Junior
Karen Wethal (Evansville, Wis./Evansville) enters her first championships in the shot put, where she is seeded 17th. Wethal qualified with a distance of 13.51 meters (44' 4") at the Carthage Final Qualifer on March 2. She will be competing on Saturday.
The NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday (March 9).
